Facet medial branch radiofrequency ablation
Radiofrequency ablation is the use of heat to destroy the tissues. In pain radio waves are delivered through needles placed under fluoroscopy or ultrasound guidance to heat an area of the nerve. This prevents pain signals from reaching your brain. It is a long term treatment for neck and back pain when the pain is originating from arthritic facet joints and when other conservative measures have failed. This treatment is also used for head pain and pelvic pain relief.
